Summary:

Performs a variety of technical duties to assist inpreparing and caring for pre-operative patients. Prepares patientskin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards. Maintainsaseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could leadto breaches in aseptic technique. Provides comfort and support forpre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient'scare and privacy. Transports patients to and from Operating Roomsuite. Positions patients according to type of surgery. Identifiesand cares for biological specimens. Prepares the Operating Room bysetting up tables, instruments and supplies according to type ofcase.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of the applicableOneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, orLeader of Leaders.
• Under thedirection of a professional nurse, performs all processes thatrelate to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance carein the OR prior to and during any surgicalprocedure.
• Ability to proficiently scrub 3specialty areas including but not limited to: Transplants, OpenHeart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, Robotics, etc. is highlypreferred.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent isrequired
• Completion of Surgical Technologyprogram is required
• 2 or more years ofexperience preferred
• BLSrequired
• Certification of Surgical Technologistfrom The National Board of Surgical Technology and SurgicalAssisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN Licenserequired
